“But when I woke up [on a Sunday], the arm was quite stiff. The sensation in the warm-up was terrible, but after training at the Clinica, I was able to sprint well when it counted.
“The physical condition did not have any restrictions.
“But we can’t lose sight of the fact that it’s functioning well; doing three races in a row is well within the typical range for recuperation.”
Marquez battled Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati for third place in the last laps, but he ultimately finished behind Johann Zarco of Pramac.
According to the Honda rider, the “issue when you are behind Ducatis” prevented him from finding a good spot to try and pass Bagnaia.
“I had a good race, similar to the one I did at Motegi. I got going cool as a cucumber, worked out my rhythm, and got the tires nice and toasty “Moreover, he said.
“Perhaps I could have taken more chances in the first five laps, but I decided that “OK, it’s time to run this sort of race now I think.”
“It’s a pain when you’re stuck behind a pack of Ducatis, but I was making good time. They brake so late and halt the bike so quickly that you need to be much, much quicker to pass them. They also have incredible acceleration.
“There I finally overtake Pecco; I couldn’t find a good opportunity to do it anywhere else.
“After that, Zarco caught up to us and was parallel to us from one turn to the next. Therefore, having fast speed makes things simpler. Other than that, I’m having a great weekend.”
