When the SSL organization makes its long-awaited return to the volleyball scene in July 2023, it will also host the National Invitational Championship.
ACES Chairman and CEO Philip Ella Juico has said that the company’s goal is to “promote the sport at the grassroots level across the nation and to unearth hidden treasures outside of Metro Manila.”
For the Invitational Championship, the National Capital Area will be represented by the three best teams from the NCAA and the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.
As an added bonus, in February of next year, a regional qualifier will begin with a total of six slots up for grabs, two of which will be awarded to each of Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
With regional qualifiers running from February to May, “the SSL will continue with its season while the UAAP and the NCAA are proceeding,” Juico added.
In addition to the six teams from the NCAA and the UAAP, the nine-day National Invitational Championship will include the teams who qualify through the regional tournaments here in Manila.
The redesigned SSL is off to a good start, including all 10 NCAA institutions and 8 UAAP teams in its first season.
